What Nystatin is used for

Nyamyc is indicated for treating fungal infections (mycotic infections) that affect the skin or membranes (cutaneous or mucocutaneous). Specifically, it is used for infections caused by *Candida albicans* and other susceptible species of *Candida*. This product is intended for topical use only and should not be used for systemic, oral, intravaginal, or ophthalmic conditions.

How it’s taken

For Lesions: Adults and pediatric patients (neonates and older) should apply the topical dusting powder to the candidal lesions two or three times daily until healing is complete.

For Foot Infections: If the fungal infection is on the feet (caused by *Candida* species), the powder must be dusted on the feet themselves, and also into all pairs of footwear.

Warnings

Nyamyc is contraindicated (should not be used) in patients who have a documented history of hypersensitivity (allergy) to any of its components.

Possible side effects

Reported adverse events are generally rare (less than 0.1%). More common events that have been reported include:

  • Allergic reactions
  • Burning
  • Itching
  • Rash
  • Eczema
  • Pain upon application
